Overview

Austria, formally known as the Republic of Austria, is a landlocked country in Central Europe, situated in the Eastern Alps. It is bordered by Germany and the Czech Republic to the north, Slovakia and Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. Covering an area of approximately 83,879 square kilometers (32,386 square miles), the country has a population of around 9.2 million people.
