Stummerberg

Austria

Stummerberg is a municipality in the Schwaz district in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It lies in the Zillertal, the valley of the Ziller river, in western Austria.

The municipality is a scattered settlement of hamlets and farmsteads rather than a single compact village, spread across the slopes above the valley floor. Its name derives from the Stummerberg, the mountain massif on whose slopes the community sits.

Stummerberg is one of the smaller communities in the Schwaz district, and its economy has traditionally been based on agriculture and, more recently, on tourism connected to the wider Zillertal area.
