Waizenkirchen

Austria

Waizenkirchen is a municipality in the district of Grieskirchen, in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. It lies in the Hausruckviertel region of the state, roughly midway between the towns of Grieskirchen and Peuerbach, in a landscape of rolling hills and farmland typical of the Alpine foothills north of the Danube.

The settlement grew up around a market square and a parish church, and it retains the compact layout of a small Austrian market town, with the church and the main square forming its historic core. Its economy has long been based on agriculture and on small-scale local trade and crafts, and it remains a minor administrative and service centre for the surrounding rural communities.

Waizenkirchen is connected by road to the nearby district capital, Grieskirchen, and to the wider Upper Austrian road network. The municipality is divided into several small villages and hamlets in addition to the main town, a common structure in this part of Austria.
