Strassen is a municipality in the district of Lienz, in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is one of the small communities that make up the Lienz district, which covers the eastern part of Tyrol.
The municipality is located in the Alpine region of western Austria, within the federal state of Tyrol. As a municipality, it forms the lowest level of local government in Austria, administering its own local affairs within the district framework.
Strassen should not be confused with other places bearing the same name, including the town of Strassen in Luxembourg. The Tyrolean Strassen is a distinct and separate municipality, identified by its location in the Lienz district of Austria.
