Veitsch

Austria

Veitsch is a former municipality in the district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag, in the Austrian state of Styria. It lies in the Mürz valley area of the region, within the Mürztal.

Since the 2015 Styria municipal structural reform, Veitsch is no longer an independent municipality; it has been part of the municipality of Sankt Barbara im Mürztal. The reform merged a number of small Styrian communes into larger administrative units.

Veitsch is known chiefly as the site of the Veitsch magnesite deposits, which have been mined for refractory magnesia, and for the associated Veitsch works in the area's industrial history.
