Vils is a town in the district of Reutte, in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It lies in the western part of the state, within the Reutte district, which covers the Außerfern region of Tyrol.
The town has a long history of violin making, spanning ten or more generations of luthiers. The most prominent of these craftsmen was Dominicus Rief, a member of the Rief family of instrument makers. Examples of his work are held in the town's museum.
