Schwertberg is a market town in the district of Perg, in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. It lies in the Mühlviertel region of the country, north of the Danube, in the province's eastern section near the district seat of Perg.
As a market town (Marktgemeinde), Schwertberg holds a status in Austrian administrative structure between a village and a full city, a designation historically tied to its right to hold markets. The surrounding area is part of the rural Mühlviertel, a granite highland landscape of rolling hills, farmland and woodland.
The town is situated in the Aist river valley, and its historic centre includes a castle, Schloss Schwertberg, which stands above the settlement. Its position in the Perg district places it within one of Upper Austria's four Mühlviertel districts, a region known for its granite architecture and small market towns.
