Stans is a municipality in the Schwaz district in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It lies in the Inn valley, roughly 3 km from the town of Schwaz.
The area is part of the Tyrolean Inn valley, a broad alpine valley through which the Inn river flows. Stans sits within the Schwaz district, one of the administrative subdivisions of Tyrol.
The food company Adolf Darbo has been based in Stans since 1918. The firm is a notable local employer and gives the municipality a place in Austria's food-production sector.
