Geography and Administrative Divisions

As a landlocked nation situated in the heart of Eastern Europe, Belarus occupies a strategic position between Russia and the countries of Central Europe. The country is administratively divided into six regions, each contributing to the nation's distinct cultural and economic landscape.

Capital City

Minsk serves as the capital and largest city of Belarus. Due to its significance and size, Minsk is administered separately from the country's six regions, holding a special city status that reflects its central role in national governance, culture, and economic activity.

Climate

Belarus experiences a hemiboreal climate, a transitional zone between temperate and boreal (subarctic) conditions. This climate type typically brings cold winters and relatively mild summers, shaping the country's agricultural cycles and natural landscapes throughout the year.
