Minsk is the capital and largest city of Belarus. It is situated on the Svislach river and the now subterranean Nyamiha river. As the nation's capital, it holds a special administrative status and serves as the administrative center for both the Minsk region and the Minsk district.

The city has a population of approximately two million as of 2026, ranking it as the 11th-most populous city in Europe. Additionally, Minsk serves as one of the administrative capitals for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
