Hrodna, also known as Grodno, is one of the oldest cities in western Belarus. It is situated on the Neman River and serves as the administrative center for both the Grodno Region and the Grodno District, although it remains administratively separate from the district itself.
The city is located approximately 300 kilometres (190 mi) from the capital city of Minsk. It sits in close proximity to international borders, situated about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Poland and 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Lithuania. As of 2025, the population of Hrodna is 363,718.
