Rail and Metro Networks
The city is well-connected by rail, with Jaipur Junction serving as the main station. Several trains arrive daily from major cities across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, and various destinations within Rajasthan. For those traveling specifically from New Delhi, high-speed options like the Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express are available.
For local transit, the Jaipur Metro offers a fast and affordable way to navigate the city. The Pink Line provides access between Mansarovar and Badi Chaupar, which is located in the heart of the historic walled city.
Buses and Public Transport
Local buses provide an option for moving around the city, with specific routes connecting major landmarks such as Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal. However, these are often overcrowded and may be in poor condition.
For organized sightseeing, the Rajasthan Tourism Department Corporation (RTDC) offers guided bus tours of local sights. This is considered a convenient way to see multiple locations with an accompanying guide providing information on the landmarks.
Taxis and Ride-Hailing

Autorickshaws and Cycle-Rickshaws
Autorickshaws (tuk-tuks) are highly practical for reaching outskirts such as Amber Fort or Galtaji, where other transport options may be harder to arrange for the return trip. While they are more affordable than taxis, it is important to negotiate an "all-in" price that includes fuel and parking fees before starting your journey. Prepaid autorickshaws are also available at major hubs like the railway station and Sindhi Camp bus stand.
Cycle-rickshaws offer a slower but cheaper alternative. Their primary advantage is their ability to navigate the narrow lanes of the city, which may be inaccessible to larger vehicles.
Walkability
Walking through the old town (Pink City) is highly recommended to experience the architecture and bazaars. Many major points of interest, such as Jantar Mantar and the City Palace, are located close to one another in this area. However, visitors should be aware that footpaths can be obstructed, requiring some walking on the road. Due to traffic and noise levels, it is best to walk during business hours when the streets are active.
