English Corner, a bar three doors down from the Sofitel, serves cold bottled beer to a mix of expats and local regulars. The vibe is unpretentious—no velvet ropes, no cover charges. A short walk away, Lang Kwui Fong draws foreign students and locals alike with cheaper beer (around ¥15 a bottle) and a livelier atmosphere. For something with live music, Banjo Bar sits further up the same street, with bands playing most evenings.
Jinan has few Western-style pubs and nightclubs. Instead, the city's social drinking unfolds differently: alcohol flows with dinner in restaurants, or you'll find yourself at night-time street barbecues and small beer shops with miniature chairs and tables, where locals gather over light snacks and cold beer. Cinderella draws mostly local crowds and serves as the main alternative to 1+1. Soho Disco, a Western-oriented option popular with foreign students, stocks various beers around ¥20.
