Rufisque
Introduction
Rufisque sits in the Dakar region of western Senegal, at the base of the Cap-Vert Peninsula roughly 25 kilometres east of Dakar. Once an important port city in its own right, it has since become a suburb of the capital, and you will find it woven into the larger urban fabric of the peninsula rather than standing apart from it.
Three days in Rufisque
Day one: Start in Rufisque itself, on the Cap Vert Peninsula in Senegal, and get your bearings on foot. Rufisque was once a major port, and its old streets still carry that history. Take your time with the town before thinking about anything beyond it.
Day two: Head to Dakar, the capital, which sits on the same peninsula. Use the day to see how the city contrasts with Rufisque, then return to Rufisque for the evening.
Day three: Stay local and revisit what you liked most in Rufisque. If you want a change of scene, Dakar is close enough for a second look before you leave the Cap Vert Peninsula.
