Eight Flames, One City: Catching the Last Night of Hanukkah in Tel Aviv
By the eighth night the city has settled into its rhythm. Candles are burning low in the windows along the side streets off Dizengoff, the air still carries the smell of sufganiyot frying somewhere nearby, and the crowds that have been building all week are out in force. Tel Aviv does not treat the final night of Hanukkah as a quiet wind-down; it treats it as the last chance to gather, and the calendar reflects it. Your job is simply to be in the right rooms at the right hours.
Seven Stars on a Very Large Stage
The anchor of the season is Hysteria at Menora Mivtachim Arena, a concert that runs repeatedly across the Hanukkah weeks and brings seven Israeli stars to one stage. The listed 2026 dates fall on 29 and 30 November, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 15 December, each running from 9:15 to 11:00 pm. Note the gaps: there is no listing for 4, 6, 11 or 14 December. If you are timing a trip to the closing nights of the holiday, check which of these dates aligns with your stay and book early — a seven-artist bill in an arena of this size is the kind of thing that fills.
A Day-Long Hanukkah at the Eretz Israel Museum
For a slower, daylight-to-dark celebration, Hannukon by Amai takes over the Eretz Israel Museum on Sunday 6 December 2026, running from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. It is built as a day-long event, which means you can arrive in the early afternoon and still be there when the evening crowds thicken. The museum grounds give you room to move between things rather than commit to a single stage, and the eight-hour window makes it the most flexible fixed point in the Hanukkah calendar.
Electronic Music After Dark
If your taste runs later, WTGL: Off Script lands on Thursday 10 December 2026, from 10:30 pm to 11:55 pm, with a bill featuring Adam Ten, Darco, Darwish, Pettra and more. The venue is listed as TBA in Tel Aviv, so confirm the location closer to the date before you plan your night around it. It is the clearest electronic-music entry in the Hanukkah listings, and a Thursday slot means the city is already in weekend mode around it.
Building Your Own Last Night
The listings above are the fixed points; the rest of the eighth night you assemble yourself. Hanukkah in Tel Aviv is a street holiday as much as a ticketed one, and the same neighbourhoods that carry the city's food culture all year carry it through the festival — the bakery counters and market stalls where sufganiyot appear by the tray. Use the gaps in the concert schedule to your advantage: the nights without a Hysteria listing (4, 6, 11 and 14 December) leave the arena crowd dispersed into the city, and the earlier evening hours before a 9:15 or 10:30 pm start are yours for wandering, eating and watching the candles go up in windows.
When to Go
The Hanukkah programming here runs from late November into mid-December 2026, with the densest cluster of arena dates in the first half of December. If you want the museum day and a concert on the same trip, aim to be in the city around 6 December for Hannukon and 10 December for WTGL, with a Hysteria date on either side. Prices are not published for any of these listings, so treat ticketing as a separate step to sort once your dates are set.
Start with the two dates that are fixed and public — the museum on 6 December and the electronic bill on 10 December — then choose your Hysteria night from the dates that remain. Build the rest of the eighth night around them, on foot, in the neighbourhoods where the candles are already lit.
