Masvingo, formerly known as Fort Victoria, is a city located in southeastern Zimbabwe. It serves as the capital of the Masvingo Province and is situated in close proximity to several significant geographical and historical landmarks.
The city is positioned near Great Zimbabwe, the national monument that provides the country with its name. It also lies near Lake Mutirikwi, which features a recreational park, the Kyle dam, and the Kyle National Reserve, an area inhabited by a variety of animal species. The local population is primarily composed of the Karanga people, who represent the largest branch of the various Shona tribes in Zimbabwe.
