Vega Alta is a town and municipality located on the northern coast of Puerto Rico. Geographically, it is situated north of Morovis and Corozal, east of Vega Baja, and west of Dorado. The municipality covers a total area of 28 square miles (73 km²).
The administrative structure of Vega Alta is divided into seven barrios and the Vega Alta barrio-pueblo. It is also recognized as part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area.
