Coamo

Puerto Rico

Coamo is a town and municipality located in the south-central region of Puerto Rico. It was founded in 1579 and serves as an administrative center for its surrounding area, known as Coamo Pueblo.

The municipality is situated north of Santa Isabel, south of Orocovis and Barranquitas, east of Villalba and Juana Díaz, and west of Aibonito and Salinas. Geographically, the municipality is spread across 10 barrios in addition to the downtown area.

Coamo is classified as a Micropolitan Statistical Area and is officially part of the Ponce-Yauco-Coamo Combined Statistical Area.
