Arlit is an industrial town located in northern-central Niger. It serves as the capital of the Arlit Department within the Agadez Region. The town is situated geographically between the Sahara Desert and the eastern edge of the Aïr Mountains.
Located approximately 200 kilometers south by road from the Algerian border, Arlit is a significant regional center. As of 2012, the commune had a total population of 79,725 people.
