Villa de Cos is one of the 58 municipalities located in the Mexican state of Zacatecas. Situated in the center-east region of the state, it covers a total area of 6,405 km2 (2,473 sq mi), which accounts for approximately 8.53% of the state's territory. The municipal seat is situated in the town of Villa de Cos.
The municipality shares borders with several neighboring areas, including Mazapil, Francisco R. Murguia, Río Grande, Felipe Pescador, Fresnillo, Pánuco, and Guadalupe within Zacatecas, as well as Santo Domingo and Villa de Ramos in the state of San Luis Potosí. According to 2010 figures from INEGI, the population of the municipality was 34,328 inhabitants.
The primary economic activities in Villa de Cos are centered on agriculture and livestock. Specifically, the region's main industries involve picking chile and operating feedlots.
