Juan Aldama

Mexico

Juan Aldama refers to Juan de Aldama y González, a prominent Mexican rebel leader and military officer who served as one of the core instigators of the Mexican War of Independence. A criollo captain in the provincial militia of New Spain, he played a significant role in the early organization of the revolutionary movement against Spanish rule.

Aldama was instrumental in organizing the Querétaro conspiracy and personally warned Miguel Hidalgo and Ignacio Allende when the plot was discovered. He participated in the Grito de Dolores and commanded the Insurgent Army's earliest campaigns before his eventual capture and execution by royalist forces.
