Zongolica is a city and municipality located in the central Mountains region of the Mexican state of Veracruz. It is situated approximately 100 km from Xalapa, which serves as the state capital. The municipality covers an area of 63.34 km2 and recorded a population of 45,028 in 2020.
The name Zongolica is derived from the Nahuatl words Tzontli-coliuhqui, which translates to "crafty hair." The city is located at the geographical coordinates 18°40′N 97°00′W.
