Tlacotepec de Mejía is a municipality situated in the montane central zone of the Mexican state of Veracruz. It is located approximately 40 kilometers from Xalapa, which serves as the state capital.
The municipality covers a total surface area of 90.48 km² and is geographically positioned at coordinates 19°12′N 96°50′W.
