Texcatepec is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Veracruz. It covers a total surface area of 153.61 km2 and is situated at the geographic coordinates 20°35′N 98°22′W, approximately 190 km from the state capital, Xalapa.
The administrative history of the municipality involved a brief relocation of its headquarters. While the municipal head-board was established in the village of Amexac in 1930, Decree Number 4 issued in 1931 returned the status of municipal head-board to the village of Texcatepec.
