Tepetlán is a municipality situated in the montane central zone of the Mexican state of Veracruz. It covers a total surface area of 83.90 km2.
The region was inhabited by the Totonac people during the Pre-Hispanic epoch. The settlement was originally named San Antonio Tepetlán, as established by a decree on November 5, 1932, which simplified the official name to Tepetlán while suppressing the first part of the original designation.
