Tecolutla is a town and municipality situated on the Tecolutla River along the eastern coast of the state of Veracruz in Mexico. It serves as the northern terminus of the "Emerald Coast," a prominent tourist corridor that stretches southward along the Gulf of Mexico to the city of Veracruz.
The area is notable for having the beaches closest to Mexico City, which are accessible within a four- or five-hour drive from the capital. Due to this proximity, much of Tecolutla's economy is centered on tourism.
