Tancoco is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Veracruz. It covers a surface area of 145.59 km² and is situated approximately 210 km from Xalapa, the state capital. The geographical coordinates for the location are 21°17′N 97°47′W.
The administrative history of the municipality involved a temporary relocation of the municipal head-board to the petroleum camp of Zacamixtle due to industrial development. However, by decree on December 26, 1929, the seat of government was returned to the village of Tancoco.
