San Andrés Tuxtla is a city and municipality located in the southern region of the Mexican state of Veracruz. It serves as the largest urban center within the Los Tuxtlas region.
The city was established during the early colonial period following an eruption of the San Martín Volcano, which forced residents to relocate into the local valley. Since the 19th century, the area has become a primary hub for Mexico's production of fine tobacco, which is predominantly used in the manufacture of cigars.
