Juan Rodríguez Clara is a city and its surrounding municipality located in the southern region of the Mexican state of Veracruz. It is situated approximately 335 km from Xalapa, the state capital. The municipality encompasses a total surface area of 934.20 km2, with the municipal seat positioned at coordinates 18°00′N 95°24′W.

The municipality was officially established on December 22, 1960, from land belonging to San Juan Evangelista. Historically known as El Burro and Nopalapan de Zaragoza, the city was renamed in 1925 to commemorate a local martyr of the agrarian movement.
