Jesús Carranza is a city located in Mexico. The name is associated with Jesús Carranza Neira, a prominent Mexican mule driver, rancher, and landowner who served as a veteran during several significant conflicts.
Carranza Neira was a notable figure who fought on the side of Benito Juárez and the liberals during the Reform War, as well as for the republicans against French intervention. He provided logistical support to Mariano Escobedo and an interest-free loan to Juárez in 1866. In recognition of his service, he was named political chief of Monclova and received a large land grant in Coahuila.
He is also remembered as the patriarch of a family that included Venustiano Carranza, who eventually served as the president of Mexico.
