Carlos Antonio Carrillo was a Californio politician, military officer, and ranchero who lived during the period of Alta California. He is primarily recognized for his political role as a claimant to the governorship of the region.
From 1837 to 1838, Carrillo was nominated to serve as Governor of Alta California in opposition to the rule of Juan Bautista Alvarado. After failing to successfully subdue Alvarado's authority, Carrillo relinquished his claim to the governorship to Alvarado in 1838.
