Nuevo Laredo is a city located in the Municipality of Nuevo Laredo within the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. It sits on the banks of the Rio Grande, directly across from the city of Laredo, Texas, in the United States. The municipality covers an area of 1,334.02 km² (515.07 sq mi) and ranks as the third largest in the state.
The city is a major hub for international commerce, earning the designation of the "customs capital of Latin America" due to its high volume of trade operations. It serves as the primary point of importance for U.S. inland commercial traffic. As of the 2010 census, Nuevo Laredo had a population of 373,725 and is part of the Laredo-Nuevo Laredo Metropolitan Area, which has a total population of 636,516.
