Ciudad Madero is a coastal city located on the Gulf of Mexico in the southeastern region of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. It serves as an important industrial hub, specifically recognized as a significant center for oil refining.
The city is situated within the Tampico metropolitan area and ranks as the third-largest municipality in that region. As of the 2015 census, Ciudad Madero had a population of approximately 209,175 people living within an area of 18.0 square miles (46.6 km2), making it the seventh most populous city in the state of Tamaulipas.
