Xalapa, also known as Jalapa, is the capital city of the Mexican state of Veracruz and serves as the seat of its surrounding municipality. Located near the geographic center of the state, it is the second-largest city in Veracruz, following the city of Veracruz to the southeast.
According to 2020 census data, the city has a population of 443,063, while the municipality covers an area of 118.45 km² with a total population of 488,531.
