Comalcalco is a city located in the Comalcalco Municipality within the Mexican state of Tabasco. It is situated approximately 45 miles (60 km) northwest of Villahermosa.
The city is notable for its proximity to the Pre-Columbian Maya archaeological site of Comalcalco. The name "Comalcalco" translates literally into English as "in the house of the comals," referring to a specific type of pan used for preparing food.
