Huatabampo

Huatabampo is a city located in the Huatabampo Municipality within the state of Sonora in northwestern Mexico. It is situated on the Gulf of California near the mouth of the Mayo River at latitude 26°49′N 109°40′W.

The city is positioned approximately 34 km southwest of Navojoa, accessible via Sonora State Highways 56 and 149. It can also be reached from Mexican Federal Highway 15 through Sonora State Highway 176.

Huatabampo is notable as the home of revolutionary general Álvaro Obregón. Before the Mexican Revolution, Obregón was a successful chickpea farmer, and the city currently serves as his burial site.
