Santiago de Queretaro, commonly known as Querétaro, is the capital and largest city of the state of Querétaro in central Mexico. It serves as the seat of the municipality of Querétaro, which is divided into seven boroughs. The city is situated within the Bajío macroregion.

Geographically, Querétaro is located 213 kilometers northwest of Mexico City, 63 kilometers southeast of San Miguel de Allende, and 200 kilometers south of San Luis Potosí. Its historic center was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.
