Zimatlán de Alvarez is a town and municipality located in the state of Oaxaca in south-western Mexico. The municipality covers a total area of 255.16 km².
It is situated within the Zimatlán District, which is positioned in the west of the Valles Centrales Region. Geographically, the municipality is notable for consisting of four separate exclaves.
