Totontepec Villa de Morelos is a municipality and town located in the Sierra Mixe district of the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Situated at an elevation of 1,840 meters above sea level, it lies approximately 146 kilometers from the state capital, Oaxaca de Juárez.
The name "Totontepec" is derived from Nahuatl and translates to "hot hill." In the local Mixe dialect, the town is known as Anyukojm, which means "place of thunder."
