Tlacolula de Matamoros is a city and municipality located in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. It is situated approximately 30 km from the center of Oaxaca City along Federal Highway 190, which serves as a route leading east toward Mitla and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
The municipality is part of the Tlacolula District, located in the eastern portion of the Valles Centrales Region. It serves as a regional point along a major transportation corridor in the state.
