Santa María Huatulco is a town and municipality located in the state of Oaxaca in south-western Mexico. It is situated within the Pochutla District in the eastern part of the Costa Region.
The name Huatulco, which may also be referred to as Guatulco Coatulco, translates to "where they worship the tree." This name originates from an ancient legend associated with the area.
