San Carlos Yautepec is a town and municipality located in the state of Oaxaca in southeastern Mexico. It is situated within the Yautepec District, which lies in the eastern portion of the Sierra Sur Region.
The municipality ranks as the second largest in Oaxaca, surpassed only by Santa María Chimalapa. The name "Yautepec" translates to "hill of black corn."
