Apodaca is a city and municipality located in the northeastern part of the Monterrey Metropolitan Area in the state of Nuevo León, Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 224.7 km² and has experienced significant demographic growth, with its population increasing from approximately 115,000 in 1990 to nearly 600,000 by 2015. This rapid expansion established it as the third most populous municipality in the metropolitan area as of 2015.
The region is characterized by its heavy industrialization, housing 70% of the industrial plants in the state of Nuevo León as of 2019. Due to this industrial concentration, Apodaca ranks as the fourth most exporting city in Mexico. Additionally, the municipality is home to the Monterrey International Airport, which serves as one of the country's four most important airports and acts as a primary employer for the local population.
