Amatlán de Cañas is a municipality and its corresponding municipal seat located in the southwestern region of the Mexican state of Nayarit. It holds the distinction of being the southernmost municipality within the state.
The municipality covers a total area of 765 square kilometers, which represents approximately 2.77% of the state's surface. As of 2005, the total population of Amatlán de Cañas was 10,392, while the municipal seat had a recorded population of 3,275.
