Yurécuaro is a town and municipality located in the Chapala cienega region of northwestern Michoacán, Mexico. Situated at an elevation of 1,530 meters (5,065 ft) above sea level, it serves as a local landmark within the state's geography.
The municipality is bordered by several neighboring areas and natural landmarks. To the north, its limits are defined by the state of Jalisco, separated by the Lerma River. It shares western borders with La Piedad, southern borders with Ecuandureo, and southeastern borders with Tanhuato. The town is located approximately 125 miles (201 km) from the state capital of Morelia and 85 miles (137 km) from Guadalajara.
