Nuevo Urecho is a municipality located in the central region of the Mexican state of Michoacán. The municipality covers a total area of 330.66 square kilometres and serves as the administrative center for its namesake city, which functions as the municipal seat.
The territory is bordered by several neighboring municipalities: Taretan to the north, Ario to the east, La Huacana to the south, and Gabriel Zamora to the west. According to the 2005 census, the municipality had a population of 7,722 inhabitants.
