Heroica Zitácuaro is a city located in the Mexican state of Michoacán. It serves as the administrative center for the municipality of the same name, which is situated on the extreme eastern side of the state bordering the State of México.
The city's name originates from the Mazahua term Tsitákuarhu. According to the 2010 census, the population of Zitácuaro was reported at 185,534 people within a municipal area covering 498 square kilometers.
