Zinacantepec

Zinacantepec is a municipality located in the state of Mexico, situated just west of the city of Toluca. The municipal seat for the region is the town of San Miguel Zinacantepec.

The name Zinacantepec originates from the Nahuatl language and translates to "bat mountain." Its corresponding Aztec glyph depicts a bat on a mountain. This name refers to a small mountain in the area that contained two caves which were historically inhabited by thousands of bats.
