Tultitlán de Mariano Escobedo is a town and the municipal seat of Tultitlán, located in the northeastern region of the State of México. It is situated adjacent to the northern tip of the Federal District and forms part of the Greater Mexico City urban area. The city is also frequently referred to as San Antonio Tultitlán or simply Tultitlán.
The name Tultitlán originates from the Náhuatl language, meaning "among the tule plants." The suffix "de Mariano Escobedo" was added to the municipality's name in 1902. This addition honors a general who fought in the Mexican–American War and supported the liberals during the La Reforma period alongside Benito Juárez.
