Tultepec is a city and municipality located in the northeastern part of the State of Mexico. It is situated directly north of Mexico City and is considered part of the Greater Mexico City urban area. The name Tultepec is derived from Náhuatl, meaning "hill of the 'tule'."
According to the 2005 census, the city had a population of 57,586, while the municipality as a whole recorded a population of 110,145. The region is primarily known for its pyrotechnics industry.
